Occasionally i'll venture into abstraction. Possibly not true abstraction as i do not seem to be able to escape the figurative, the motif, the landscape, but i do enjoy the freedom of the chase. Painting to co-ordinate colour and form into shapes and meanings is immensely pleasurable and very challenging when working purely from the minds eye. The habits of representation and actuality are difficult to break and the desire to follow format and form in our vision is hard to ignore. I love the work of Kandinsky and Matta but both these artists in their work offer landscape and form as abstraction. possibly one day i'll paint something truly abstract if indeed true abstraction is possible.
